Painting Workshop with Vincent Pomilio

Join us at the Curb Center for a hands-on painting workshop led by Vincent Pomilio, abstract landscape painter and featured artist in the Curb Center's exhibition Land Shapes. Pomilio will introduce participants to his signature technique using Venetian plaster and pigments on pre-primed wood panels. Materials and lunch will be provided. Space is extremely limited; RSVP here. For the past 10 years his work has been largely abstract, using the natural world as his guide. The image evolves through a series of layers, each one rubbed, sanded, or burnished with tools. Some of his work has a strong landscape feeling as in "Between The River and The Sky." He encourages the viewer to find recognizable shapes and images: "If you see it, it is there." Most of these paintings have an all-over feeling as if these self-organizing systems continue off the picture plane. One shape flows from another, and then another, until there is a pulsating energy of interacting elements. Worlds of refined, chaotic movement are animated by color.
