Sgraffito: Pumpkins

These workshops are for beginners and no experience with etching is required. The cost of this class will depend on the pumpkin you choose as each pumpkin will be priced based on size, just like at the pumpkin patch! Prices will range from $20-$50. This class focus on the etching into clay and paint process.

We recommended that each attendee be at least 13 years of age.

Each workshop we will be going through the basics at the beginning and there will be an instructor to help throughout the process. It is fun and messy so wear art clothes or clothes you don't mind getting dirty! We will provide an assortment of pumpkins, varying sizes and shapes (made by our talented wheel throwers). Pumpkins will be priced individually.

Attendees will be doing the technique of sgraffito - sgraffito is a technique where potters can put a layer of glaze on the pottery, let it dry, then use a pottery carving tool to scratch at the paint to show the base layer of clay.

Please note if you had taken the pumpkin wheel throwing class the day before on October 23rd and plan to sgraffito your own pumpkin the cost of the class is $15

Projects created on the wheel will take about 2-2.5 weeks to be dried and fired, then dipped and fired again before pick up. Painting and the final firing are all included in the price. Workshops usually take about 90 minutes.
