Désordre du Discours

Désordre du Discours is a French-language solo play (with English supertitles) that reconstructs Michel Foucault's celebrated 1970 inaugural lecture at the Collège de France, of which no audio or video recording survives. Conceived by director Fanny de Chaillé and performed by Guillaume Bailliart, the production restages Foucault's ideas on language, power, and discourse through live performance alone, drawing on the published text of the lecture. Presented by the France Chicago Center during Foucault's centenary year, this free performance marks one of only two U.S. stops for the acclaimed Bordeaux production, alongside Indiana University Bloomington.
