Adam Menlin At this moment in history, we are encountering the stories of America at 250. If we engage the "Sankofa" of looking backward and forward, we may uncover a series of complex truths that offer a lens for how to navigate the moment. Join us for an interdisciplinary storytelling workshop with storyteller Emily Hooper Lansana and multidisciplinary artist William Estrada. The workshop will take place at the Logan Center for the Arts. The Logan Center makes space to contemplate, create and experience art while engaging diverse communities. We will explore identity by examining the connection between objects and memory. Participants will be invited to investigate a series of objects and to respond by sharing memories that arise. The sharing will take place in the form of oral storytelling and visual response. This three-hour intensive workshop will include opportunities to traverse personal and cultural history, to engage in collective conversation, and to creatively develop oral and visual pieces that capture the experience. This session is part of a larger collective project curated by Emily Hooper Lansana that explores interdisciplinary storytelling, culture, and memory and is included in the curated UChicago Arts Series America@250 - Now is the Time: Artists go to WorkThis workshop is supported by the Logan Center's Chill Endowment and friends of the Logan Center.
