The Winter’s Tale

The Winter’s Tale is coming to Chicago, running from Thursday, December 3, 2026, through Saturday, December 12, 2026, at The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

This professional, family-friendly staging brings William Shakespeare’s late romance vividly to life. First published in the 1623 First Folio, The Winter’s Tale is famously classified as one of the Bard’s “problem plays” or tragicomedies.

The production offers a striking structural contrast: the first three acts deliver an intense, gripping psychological drama fueled by jealousy and tyranny, which then shifts beautifully into two final acts of lighthearted comedy, pastoral romance, and a miraculous, happy ending.
