Comfort, Care & Choices: Understanding Palliative Care & Hospice
When someone we love is facing a serious or life-limiting illness, families are often confronted with difficult questions: How can we provide comfort? What kind of care is available? And how do we know when it is time to consider a different approach?
This interactive panel will explore comfort, care, and the choices available to individuals and families as health needs change. Through real-world case examples, panelists will illustrate the differences between palliative care and hospice, who may benefit from each, and how families and healthcare providers determine which approach is appropriate at different points in the journey.
The discussion will also explain hospice eligibility, including how eligibility is determined for different diagnoses and when an individual may transition from palliative care to hospice. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of what these services provide, when they may be appropriate, and how they can support comfort, quality of life, and informed decision-making.
