The book selected to discuss in October is First Among Equals: U.S. Foreign Policy in a Multipolar World by Emma Ashford. "In First Among Equals, Ashford delivers a bold reassessment of America's role in a shifting world. Through sharp analysis and pragmatic solutions, she charts a path beyond unipolar overreach and toward a balanced, interest-driven foreign policy for the United States."--Mark Leonard, director, European Council on Foreign Relations.

Emma Ashford is a senior fellow at the Stimson Center, where she is part of the Reimagining U.S. Grand Strategy Program. She is also an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a columnist at Foreign Policy.
