Artist Member Jo Wadler featured in Instincts: Art Talk

Gallery North is pleased to present INSTINCTS: Schery Markee-Sullivan,

Gina Mars and Jo Wadler. Instincts brings together painter and mixed

media artist, Schery Markee-Sullivan; sculptor and wearable artist, Jo

Wader; and ceramicist and sculptor, Gina Mars for their first exhibition

together at Gallery North. Driven by instinct, their work, in turn,

conveys the human experience. Each piece balances technique, fluid

experimentation and an exploration of material interaction, appearing

both ancient and contemporary. Wader’s wearables question the

boundary between art and adornment, through objects meant to be

worn, experienced, and integrated into daily life. There are complex

surfaces in the dynamic color, line and energy of Markee-Sullivan

mixed media paintings and vibrant glazes and textures within Mars’

vessels. Each surface is a conduit for expression and dialogue and

each work is evocative of the artist’s personal narrative.
