Split Level Concerts Presents: Catie Curtis and Band with Special Guest Mike Montrey

For more than three decades, Catie Curtis has occupied a singular place in American songwriting. Long before authenticity became a marketing strategy, Curtis was practicing a quieter art: making songs that feel like conversations, invitations into a shared emotional space where listeners recognize themselves. Over the course of fifteen albums and thousands of performances, her career has taken her from Boston’s vibrant folk scene to stages across the country, from Carnegie Hall to the White House. Yet Curtis’s enduring appeal has never been about accolades alone. It stems from a rare ability to transform private experiences into shared ones, creating music that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant. Curtis and her band are on tour in support of 2026's C'Mon Butterfly. At the heart of C'mon Butterfly is a belief in interdependence and the understanding that none of us thrives alone, and that strength often emerges through connection rather than conflict. Grounded in gratitude for the beauty of ordinary moments and attentive to the lessons nature offers every day, the album finds hope in the possibility that we can live with greater gentleness toward ourselves, one another, and the world we share. Split Level Concerts is back for its 3rd season at Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove! The partnership between Split Level Concerts and JSAC brings critically acclaimed national and international touring Americana and contemporary folk musicians to the Jersey Shore. Artists from the Asbury Park music scene will continue to open many of the shows. Visit each artist’s website to learn more about the pairing for this month’s show. https://catiecurtis.com https://www.mikemontreyband.com Net ticket proceeds from all Split Level concerts support the programming and arts education offered by the Jersey Shore Arts Center, a non-profit organization serving Ocean Grove and its surrounding areas. The second season of the series netted approximately $10,000, money that the Arts Center is using to help pay for the presentation of additional arts programs and improvements to its historic building. In addition, Jersey Shore Arts Center and Split Level Concerts are proud to partner with Brookdale Public Radio 90.5 The Night and Musicians On A Mission (MOAM) to promote the concert series. Musicians On A Mission is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating connection and inspiring giving through music. During the shows that made up season two, the volunteers from MOAM collected nearly $4,000 in cash donations and 587 pounds of non-perishable food items to benefit Fulfill (formerly the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County). For season three, MOAM has again chosen Fulfill to be the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts. “Catie Curtis is an artist whose songs unarm me, move me to put down my defenses and just be with them. She lures me in through her kindness and respect for all beings. I have been listening to her music for years, she is an inspiration to me. She knows the power of gentleness, and the vulnerability in her voice has always undone me.” - Mary Gauthier, award winning singer/songwriter For over 25 years, Catie toured full-time as a singer/songwriter in the US and Europe, releasing 14 recordings and selling over 250,000 CDs (not to mention streaming and downloads). She has recorded her acoustic folk-rock tunes for major (EMI Guardian) and independent (Rykodisc, Vanguard and Compass) labels, collaborating with some of the finest musicians and producers in the country. Her songs have been featured in several films and multiple tv shows, and she performed several times at the White House during the Obama administration. Her audience knows she's not afraid to speak up about political issues and to stand up for the LGBTQ community. She’s intensely grateful for those years on the road, and honored to know that her music has been an integral part of so many people's lives. In 2017, Catie explored a desire to work locally rather than spending so much time on the road. She got a master's degree in counseling and is now a psychotherapist in Newburyport, MA. She seeks a balance between her work as a therapist and an artist. “I still need and want to create music. Writing is still how I make sense of my life and the world around me. I still love getting out to play shows and connect with people.” Fortunately, it’s important to her fans, too.
