Literacy Volunteer Information Session
BPL Literacy Volunteers are crucial to providing adult literacy services to our patrons. We look for tutors who are passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge with adults who want to improve their reading, writing, critical thinking, and math skills. Volunteers also help participants learn how to use library resources and technology.
This session will be held in person at the New Lots Interim Library at 818 Schenck Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11207. It occurs in classroom 2. Register to receive a reminder.
Requirements:
A strong commitment to helping people learn to read and write.
Excellent communication skills: speaking, reading, and writing English fluently.
The ability to use computer technology is a plus.
Experience is not required—we train all our volunteers.
