Polish Language for Beginners: From “Dzień Dobry” to Pierogi Conversations

Think Polish is impossible because of all those sz, cz, ż, and mysterious little tails on letters? Don’t worry—you are not alone! Even some Poles admit that Polish can be a bit of a linguistic adventure. Join us for a fun introduction to the language that gave the world pierogi, Chopin, and words long enough to challenge even the bravest tongue.

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, order a coffee (or maybe a kawa), talk about everyday life, and master the essentials of Polish pronunciation—without tying your tongue into a precel (pretzel)! Along the way, you’ll discover fascinating pieces of Polish culture, traditions, and expressions that don’t always translate neatly into English.

No experience with Polish is required. Bring your curiosity, your sense of humor, and your willingness to embrace a few unforgettable sounds. By the end, you may not be ready to argue about the best recipe for bigosem or whether your grandmother’s sernik is truly unbeatable—but you’ll be ready to say Dzień dobry! with confidence.

Class begins August 25 and continues for ten sessions on Tuesdays via Zoom. Register yourself today, and one week before the first class you will receive the Zoom link and instructions for joining the session.

Come learn Polish from the comfort of your own home—no passport, pierogi-making skills, or perfect pronunciation required!
