Short Film Screening,
followed by a discussion with the filmmakers
"No Ideas But in Things" is an art film that asks what can only be known through touch, making, and the body. Drawing on footage from the Material Intelligence seminar at the American Academy in Rome, where scientists, makers, and humanists explored how to learn from materials in an age of words and algorithms, the film uses Rome as an object of inquiry and conversation as an instrument of research, rather than a vehicle for predetermined conclusions. In doing so, it reimagines scholarly output beyond the book, article, and essay.
