Hosted by the King Center on Global Development, Daniel Björkegren, Associate Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, will speak about the intersection of AI and development, and how junior researchers should consider their research topics and methods as the field evolves.

About the speaker:
Daniel Björkegren is an associate professor of international and public affairs at Columbia University. He works to understand how digital technologies and artificial intelligence could transform developing economies. His work has provided foundations for digital credit scoring for people excluded from traditional banking. He leads the AI and Development initiative at the Center for Development Economics and Policy (CDEP), and is a non-resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development, an affiliate of BREAD and J-PAL, and a member of the Data Science Institute. He holds a PhD in economics from Harvard University.
