You Belong Here: A Student Workshop
You Belong Here: A Student Workshop creates a supportive, reflective space for Black and African students to explore belonging, build confidence, and strengthen connections across campus. Through guided conversation, small-group reflection, and brief skills practice, participants will surface common experiences of self-doubt and imposter feelings while recognizing the accomplishments and resilience that brought them to Stanford.
Facilitators will introduce practical strategies for reframing negative self-talk, celebrating milestones, and cultivating peer networks that sustain academic and personal well-being. The session is intentionally participant-centered: attendees can choose their level of engagement, and confidentiality and mutual respect are emphasized.
Faculty and staff are invited to attend in a supportive role to listen, learn, and reinforce institutional commitment to inclusive belonging; their presence should prioritize students’ voices and experiences. Whether you are seeking reassurance, connection, or concrete tools to bolster confidence, this workshop offers a welcoming environment to reaffirm that you earned your place at Stanford and belong in this community.
