Still Life as a Creative Path for Mindful Well-being
Discover a new path into contemplative awareness by appreciating and participating in artistic expression during this interactive online class.
In this session, we will explore still-life drawings and paintings as a lens through which we can cultivate a mindful relationship with the foods that nourish us and with the cycles of creation and impermanence. We’ll begin by setting our intentions through examples of inspiring still-life artworks and readings from renowned writers such as Zen Master Dogen, Haiku poet Basho, and others. This grounding exercise will lead into a guided contemplative practice, followed by an opportunity to express creativity through drawing and painting.
This class prioritizes mindful expression over artistic technique, making it accessible for everyone — no prior experience in drawing, painting, or meditation is required. A list of suggested art supplies will be provided with your class registration.
