SJSU Theatre presents Sanctuary City

In post-9/11 Newark, two teenagers brought to America as children find refuge, friendship, and belonging in each other. When an unexpected opportunity offers one of them a chance at the future they’ve dreamed of, the two make a life-changing pact—but love, loyalty, and identity prove far more complicated than any plan. Urgent, intimate, and deeply human, Martyna Majok’s Sanctuary City is a powerful portrait of two young people caught between the place they call home and a system that may never fully allow them to belong.
