DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS (Day of the Dead) at the Castro Adobe

Celebrate Día de los Muertos with a free folklórico dance performance by Estrellas de Esperanza

The Castro Adobe State Historic Park will celebrate Día de los Muertos with a free community Open House. A highlight of the day will be a live folklórico dance performance by Estrellas de Esperanza at 11:30 a.m. in the historic Fandango Room. They will be celebrating Mexican heritage through colorful traditional dance and bringing together culture, tradition and community.

Visitors are invited to explore the 176-year-old,two-story, adobe hacienda and its museum-quality exhibits while learning about the Castro family and life on Rancho San Andrés. Knowledgeable docents will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and share stories about the people, history and traditions connected to this special place located in the rustic countryside of Watsonville.

Throughout the day, visitors can also enjoy live music, children’s crafts and family activities in the gardens and orchards surrounding the historic Castro Adobe. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon enjoying the grounds.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a tradition of remembrance that honors family members and ancestors who have passed while celebrating the enduring connections among family, community and culture.
