Día de los Muertos Festival 2026

For 31 years, the annual Oakland Día de los Muertos Festival has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors to the vibrant, culturally-rich Fruitvale neighborhood for a free, outdoor, family-friendly event taking place to commemorate the Mexican traditions around the Día de los Muertos. Festival attendees enjoy world-class live music, family-friendly games, rides and activities, traditional Latin American artisans, and the stunning altares created by community members paying homage to los Muertos.

The 2026 Oakland Dia de los Muertos will take place on Sunday, November 1 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Fruitvale Village.

This year’s theme, “La Lucha Continúa: Aquí estamos y no nos vamos“ (The Struggle Continues: We are here and we’re not leaving), builds upon the affirmation we made to our community last year. Rooted in the histories of civil rights, immigrant justice, and community organizing movements, it reflects the ongoing struggle for dignity, belonging, and the right to remain rooted in the places we call home. La lucha continua!

This event is free and open to all.

Parking can be limited during the Dia de los Muertos Festival. Consider these options:

Public Transportation: Utilize BART or AC Transit to avoid parking hassles.

Paid Parking Garages: There’s limited garages around Fruitvale that offer paid parking.

Street Parking: Limited street parking may be available, but be sure to check for permit requirements or restrictions.
