Managing AI Intellectual Property at UC Berkeley

This webinar explores the challenges and opportunities of managing intellectual property for innovations involving artificial intelligence, including practical guidance for Berkeley researchers considering commercialization of their AI innovations. Across campus, AI has proliferated as a tool in research and an underlying technology of intellectual property \(IP\). However, in comparison to conventional device and method-based patents, AI IP has different attributes that impact its patenting and licensing potential. Likewise, in comparison to copyrightable software, AI IP often includes weights and data as well as code. Those differences require new approaches to managing, patenting, licensing, and com mercializing AI IP. Bring your questions! Hosted by the UC Berkeley Office of Technology Licensing, in the Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Research Alliances.
