
How to Train Your Dragon: The Musical Jr. - Bay Area Premiere
Dragons, Vikings, music and adventure take the stage in San Mateo this fall as **Pied Piper Players presents the Bay Area premiere of DreamWorks’ *How to Train Your Dragon: The Musical Jr.***, running Oct. 23–Nov. 1 at the Bayside Performing Arts Center.
Based on the Academy Award-nominated animated hit, the family-friendly musical follows Hiccup, a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends a dragon named Toothless. Their unlikely friendship challenges what their communities have been taught about one another and launches an adventure filled with humor, heart and plenty of dragon-sized action.
The production brings together **63 local performers, primarily kids and teens**, from San Mateo, Burlingame, Daly City, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Millbrae and other Peninsula communities.
The show also marks **25 years of Pied Piper Players**, a Bay Area nonprofit family theater organization that has provided theater education and performance opportunities to more than 1,200 young actors while bringing generations of local families together through the performing arts.
Performances are **Oct. 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 and Nov. 1** at the **Bayside Performing Arts Center, 2025 Kehoe Ave., San Mateo**. All ages are welcome. Running time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, plus intermission. Tickets are $23 for children under 18 and seniors and $26 for adults, plus processing fee.
