Main Street, Los Gatos, CA, 95030 Cost Free with registration Buy Tickets on Eventbrite Register New Museum Los Gatos welcomes the South Bay community to celebrate our current exhibitions, Reawakening: Muwekma Ohlone Culture and Connection in Pursuit of Recognition and Reawakening: Reciprocity of Land, Sea, and the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, at our Community Day on November 7th. This occasion will feature family-friendly activities, refreshments, games, and exhibition-inspired activations to honor and celebrate the culture and experiences of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. Featured Jun 19 June 19, 2026 - November 29, 2026 Reawakening: Muwekma Ohlone Culture and Connection in Pursuit of Recognition June 19, 2026 - November 29, 2026 Viewers will learn about the Muwekma Ohlone's "Trail of Truth" journey on horseback from California to Washington D.C. to advocate for the reinstatement of their federal recognition. They traveled with sacred horses gifted to them by the Lakota Nation, and were supported by several tribal nations across the US that welcomed them on their land and reinforced their message to the US Bureau of Indian Affairs. June 19, 2026 - November 29, 2026 Jul 17 July 17, 2026 - January 3, 2027 Reawakening: Reciprocity of Land, Sea, and the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe July 17, 2026 - January 3, 2027 This exhibition focuses on the Muwekma Ohlone's cultural and practical efforts in land stewardship, including cultural burns and the cultivation of native plants that provide resources for regalia making, food, and traditional healing. They are reawakening their Chochenyo language as well as dance, music, song, and ceremonies. This exhibition sheds light on the Tribe's ongoing cultural revival after a century of erasure following the loss of, and the fight to regain, federal recognition. Learn More.
