Oakland Civic Orchestra: Rachmaninoff and Mussorgsky
The Oakland Civic Orchestra opens its 35th season with “Rachmaninoff and Mussorgsky.” Conducted by Music Director Martha Stoddard and Assistant Conductor Andrew O'Donnell, the program features two masterpieces from its title composers: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s triumphant Piano Concerto No. 2, with pianist Hadley McCarroll, and the musical storytelling of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. In light-hearted contrast, the concert will begin with the sparkling energy of Lili Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps (Of a Spring Morning). Advance ticket purchase is recommended, and special discount pricing is available for a limited time.
