Author Visit with Catherine Young
On Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., join author, naturalist and educator Catherine Young at the Driftless Historium to celebrate her newest book, Farmwise Almanac. Guests will enjoy an afternoon gathering, with selected readings, original song and food, hot cider and coffee, among friends old and new. (Got a favorite shareable recipe? Bring a finger food to pass!)
Farmwise Almanac is a month-by-month chronicle of seasonal living in Wisconsin’s famously verdant and geologically unique Driftless region. In this uplifting book, Catherine utilizes a combination of stories, poems, songs, four decades of ecological understanding, and 108 recipes to illustrate the profound relationship between where we live, what we eat, and who we are—as both individuals and the communities that we help build and that, in turn, help sustain us. Copies of Farmwise Almanac will be available for purchase before and after the event.
Catherine is a former naturalist for the National Park Service, geographer for the Science Museum of Minnesota, and a Wisconsin Poet Laureate Finalist. She is an organic homestead farmer, award-winning writer and podcaster. For over forty years, she has lived and farmed with her family in southwest Wisconsin. She leads writing, foraging and food preparation workshops. Learn more at www.catherineyoungwriter.com.
