Scholarly Spotlight Series Fall 2026: Dr. Jianjun Ji

The Second Demographic Transition in China and Its Social Consequence Dr. Jianjun Ji's presentation will focus on how the decrease in China's fertility suggests that China has entered its second demographic transition. He will address questions about the driving forces that contributed to this low fertility and what challenges this poses to the Chinese society, such as implications on age and sex structure, family composition, labor force, as well as challenges in the elderly-caring mechanism and social resources.
