"Do It Yourself" Hand Pies

Learn how to make your own hand pies! This class is a workshop on how to make an excellent pie dough, and a demonstration on how to assemble delectable hand pies. Students will leave with their own doughs made, and are encouraged to take what they've learned in class to proceed with assembling their own custom hand pies the following day. Very dedicated Ely Folk School supporters might even consider baking their hand pies and bringing them to the 2026 Ely Folk School Winter Bonfire on Saturday, December 12th.

The materials fee for this class covers the supplies for making pie doughs with the classic Ely Folk School recipe which includes butter and sour cream. Students will be responsible for purchasing and sourcing their own ingredients for the insides of the pies, assembly for which will take place beyond the class.
