Lansing Town Hall Celebrity Lecture Series w/ John U. Bacon

Originally organized in 1953 by a group of local women to raise funds for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Town Hall has become a treasured mid-Michigan tradition, bringing audiences some of the finest programs available on the national lecture circuit for more than seven decades.

John U. Bacon is an acclaimed author, historian, and storyteller known for his engaging narratives and meticulous research into American culture, history, and the Great Lakes region. His work examining the history and legacy of the Edmund Fitzgerald has become one of the most significant contributions to understanding the ship and its enduring place in Great Lakes history.

Drawing from his book The Gales of November, Bacon uncovers new details surrounding Edmund Fitzgerald's final voyage. Through extensive archival research and compelling human stories, he sheds fresh light on the tragedy that claimed the lives of all 29 crew members when the freighter sank in Lake Superior during a fierce storm on November 10, 1975.
