About This Event
The New Oakland County Black Caucus \(NOCBC\) invites Oakland County residents, community leaders, families, young people, business owners, and civic organizations to join us for our NON-PARTISAN Candidate Community Forum.
This forum is about information, access, civic engagement, and giving our community a stronger voice in deciding who will represent us.
As a newly organized entity, NOCBC is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for residents to connect directly with candidates and elected leaders, learn where they stand on important issues, and become more engaged in the decisions affecting our communities.
Candidates from both sides of the political aisle are being invited to participate in a respectful, informative community conversation. This is a non-partisan organization. Anyone can attend.

Invited candidates include individuals seeking office in the following races:
Governor, Michigan Secretary of State, United States Senate, Michigan Attorney General, Michigan Supreme Court, Oakland County Judge non incumbent contested Candidates & More...
Candidate participation is subject to confirmation. The final participant lineup may change.

This is an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their qualifications, priorities, leadership, and vision for Michigan.
Residents will have an opportunity to become better informed about issues affecting Oakland County and our state, including:

Our Five-Point Vision
The New Oakland County Black Caucus was established around a Five-Point Vision, Policy, and Legislative Agenda:
1. Invest in Students, Skill trades and the Future Support scholarships, mentorship, internships, student recognition, career development, civic education, financial literacy, and opportunities that prepare young people for success.
2. Develop the Next Generation of Leaders and Support Families Prepare emerging leaders for service in government, business, education, and community organizations while advocating for stronger support for children, parents, caregivers, seniors, and families.
3. Advance Policy and Legislative Priorities Educate and engage residents around county, state, and federal policies affecting education, voting rights, economic opportunity, public safety, healthcare, housing, and civil rights.
4. Activate the Community and Strengthen Civic Engagement Increase voter registration, voter education, turnout, and year-round participation through candidate forums, town halls, listening sessions, workshops, and direct engagement with decision-makers.
5. Elect, Appoint, and Advance African American Leadership Build a pipeline of qualified leaders for elected office, boards, commissions, advisory councils, public authorities, and other positions of public service and community leadership.

The New Oakland County Black Caucus is building a new platform for civic leadership, community empowerment, public policy engagement, and greater access to government throughout Oakland County.
