Before Care Had a System

Cincinnati Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney will moderate Before Care Had a System, a free community conversation exploring breast cancer awareness, care, medical trust, advocacy, and Black health history in Cincinnati.

Presented by the Mattie Legacy Project in partnership with the UC Cancer Center, the event is rooted in the story of Mattie Bell Kinney, a local community leader who used her own experience with breast cancer to educate and advocate for Black women and underserved communities.

The program will bring together health equity leaders, cancer survivors, caregivers, and community advocates. It will also include a short documentary about Mattie, local cancer and community resources, and time for attendees to connect.

The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is requested.
