Who I am in Christ
Hey there! I am excited to be hosting a small group centered around Christian identity. I am aiming at only having 6 people or so. It is a coed, young adult group. Technically the age range is 18-35 or so, but you can be a bit older. However, you must be at least 18.
Identity at it's core can be understood by looking at the roots of the word. The Latin word root is *"identitas"* which means "same." It carries the notion that though humans have the amazing ability to be formed and reformed, something about us, our essence or personhood always remains the same. You may be a better version of you, but you only know that because you're still ***you***—catch my drift? You were created in God's image as a son or a daughter. Do you live with a conscious awareness of that? Or do you, like so many others, live with the "sameness" of past trauma or pain? Yesterdays mistakes? Where you believe you come from and the names that you were given during your early development will determine what you believe about yourself, others, and God. There are many false identities out there to be sure, but did you know that you aren't actually created to define yourself? Have you ever considered that you are trying to shape yourself into somebody that is acceptable, but have the sense that you are suppressing who you actually are? Christian or not—Jesus is the answer. You weren't made to be a moralist or the "pilot" of your own soul. You were made to be loved and guided by the supreme personality of the cosmos—God. Until you find your belong there, you will forever be *trying* to belong. You belong already, friend. Come and find out.
