The Causal Effect of Religious Participation on Prosocial Economic Behavior

It is well documented that people who self-identify as religious are more likely to engage in charitable giving and volunteer activity, the degree to which this relationship is causal remains unanswered. In a project supported by the Frost Center, Neil Silveus aims to fill this gap in social science literature and to understand the ways the current decline in religious affiliation may affect public life and civil society.
