Beyond Assumptions: Identity, Intersectionality, and Cultural Humility
Facilitated by Minerva S. Muñoz, Dean for Institutional Equity This workshop invites us to examine how our assumptions and biases prevent us from seeing people fully. We will explore how overlapping identities and compounding marginalization shape lived experiences, and how cultural humility helps us to see the whole person beyond a single identity. We will reflect on our own social location and how our identities may create power imbalances or barriers to trust. Lastly, we will practice approaching differences with curiosity and empathy, and accepting people as the expert of their own experience. Snacks provided.
