Creation & Connection: Learning Through Macalester's Indigenous Land Mural

Facilitated by Mayzong Lee, Equity Specialist, Institutional Equity This workshop invites us to consider how we understand Native land and place, and how our relationships to them shape the ways we understand and connect to ourselves and Native communities. Through a guided exploration of Creation, we'll examine the Dakota and Ojibwe symbolism and imagery incorporated by artists Natchez Beaulieu, Waabigwanikwe (Flower Woman), and co-designer Hapistinna Graci Horne. Together, we will then look into the native land we live on and reflect on how this information deepens or shifts our understanding and relationship to land and place. Light lunch provided.
