Join us as Bright Star Touring Theatre presents A Dickens Tale. Old Ebeneezer Scrooge has only one passion in life – money! Even at Christmas time, he’s more interested in making sure his business affairs are in order than in making sure his friends and family are cared for, but he’s about to learn an important lesson! Perfect for young and old alike, A Dickens Tale brings Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” to life in front of your very eyes. Join old Scrooge, bumbling Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, old Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future while discovering the true meaning of the season.

Seating will open at 5:00 as the library closes its bookshelves and checkout stations. Please arrive by 5:00 p.m. so that we can seat everyone and start promptly at 5:15 p.m. Seating is limited and first come, first served. Children will be seated on the floor. After the performance, walk to Mason's Tree Lighting Ceremony 6:00-8:00 p.m. for free photos with Santa, holiday music, and crafts. Enjoy an iceless skating rink, mechanical snowboard, gingerbread obstacle course, and more!

A Dickens Tale is a 45-minute, fast-paced version of the literary classic, A Christmas Carol. A Dickens Tale introduces audiences to the mean old man named Ebenezer Scrooge. Content in a life of misery, Scrooge is visited upon by a variety of entertaining and insightful ghostly visitors who encourage him to change his miserable life. Changed by the visits, he transforms into a jolly, holiday loving man! The show features all the classic characters from old Scrooge, bumbling Cratchit, Jacob Marley, the three ghostly visitors, a hilarious beggar woman and more—all played by just two professional actors.

Bright Star Touring Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC, is visiting the area with their acclaimed production of A Dickens Tale, based upon the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. Bright Star Touring Theatre serves nearly a thousand audiences annually with a variety of programs ranging from Heroes of the Underground Railroad to Aesop’s Fables. The company has routinely performed at the National Theatre and across the country.
