Andrea Callard will show early and recent short films at the Webster University Film Series on November 1 at 7:00 PM. In the early 70’s, she explored nature downtown and the aesthetic ideas then debated by artists. Two black-and-white pieces made with Sony Portapak will be shown. Kodak’s early Super 8mm sound film recorded others in color. By 2006, she wanted to see them again. The National Film Preservation Foundation, New York University, and the New York Women in Film and Television preserved her early work. There have since been many international screenings.

The head of an inventive California recycling company remembered her films, too. Callard became their digital storyteller for about 11 years. She produced more than 120 short films used for marketing and client education. Seen on phones, company websites, and as YouTube ads, about two million people watched them.

Since 2019, she has returned to make more personal work. She follows her curiosity and experiments, slowly.
