Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Celebration

Join us in celebrating “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Month” and read Lightning Bug Jamboree by Stephanie Brinkley and illustrated by Victoria Mikki. All storytimes this week will feature Brinkley's book, and each family who attends will receive a FREE BOOK to keep! "Kansas Reads to Preschoolers" annually highlights the importance of reading aloud to young children, and we encourage everyone to spend some time sharing books with the children in your life as often as you can!

"Kansas Reads to Preschoolers" is a project of the Kansas Center for the Book, a program of the State Library of Kansas. "Reading with children fosters more than just bonding among readers; it builds language, social-emotional skills, imagination and world awareness,” said Deputy State Librarian and Center for the Book Coordinator Valarie Lamoreaux. Take some time to visit the library, read aloud, and celebrate the joy of literacy with children!
