Behind the Rage: Screening + Discussion
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In the U.S., one in four women experiences domestic abuse, and most female homicide victims are killed by a current or former partner. Join The Willow Domestic Violence Center for a screening of the acclaimed film Behind the Rage: Inside America’s Domestic Violence.
Peabody-, BAFTA-, and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Deeyah Khan explores a critical question: Is it possible to reduce endemic male violence? Through testimonies from survivors and social workers, the film seeks solutions by amplifying voices rarely heard in these conversations: The perpetrators themselves.
After the screening, we’ll be hosting a panel discussion including:
Steve and Dorothy Halley, founders of the Family Peace Initiative (FPI), whose groundbreaking work to end family violence is highlighted in Behind The Rage
Family Peace Initiative facilitator and former program participant
Local domestic and sexual violence experts
Registration for this event is required, and can be completed here. Doors will open at 5:30; the film will begin promptly at 6.
