S.A. Bach
Anti-folk singer-songwriter Sebastian A. Bach is a native of Los Angeles. His pianist father uprooted the fam to follow his then-boss Andy Williams to Branson, MO in the early ‘90s. Seb quickly fell under the sway of the neighbor kid and started making up country songs, developing a thick southern accent which held for a few weeks until his mom staged an intervention at the dinner table one fateful night. The songwriting habit persisted however, intensifying when the elder Bach joined Jim Stafford’s band in ‘93 and subsequently diversifying when Seb discovered alternative rock (Smashing Pumpkins specifically), by way of Beavis & Butthead. In 1996, the family moved to nearby Springfield, and Seb’s fate was sealed as he was gifted a drum set and an acoustic guitar in short order and recruited through a mutual friend to start a band with Phil Dickey (later of Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin). After learning the requisite dozen or so Nirvana covers, the two graduated to writing full-fledged songs, trading off drumming & guitar/vocal duties. The fledgling band fell apart before they could get any gigs, find anybody who owned a bass, or settle on a name. Seb moved back to LA in 1999 and spent the bulk of the next quarter century there toiling in obscurity, writing hundreds of songs, recording tens of albums & doing countless gigs as a solo act, sideman, sound man, open mic host, and leader of alternative rock bands, most notably Oh Yeah, The Future, who are working on their third album now. At long last, Seb moved back to Springfield in late 2022, and he is attempting to worm his way into every corner of the music scene. In addition to OYTF & solo gigs, he has a new project Square Bachs in the works with his fusion freak father Steve Bach, and he performs locally with Michael Stanton & The Shade, The Cattywampus Band, The Nova Heat, Krista Meadows and James Ingle, and produces other artists at his home studio The Realm of Possibilities (currently home to Joe Fraley’s legendary pedal collection).
