October 24th, Lemonade Park, All-Ages, Doors at 6pm, Show at 7pm, $12 advance / $15 at door Christena writes songs in order to make sense of her world. Her lyrics are a mixture of a heartfelt acknowledgment of the pain and suffering in life, balanced by the steadying force of committed relationships. Graves draws from her deep connection with the natural world to help frame the difficulty of the human emotional landscape. She found her musical beginning growing up in Michigan as she learned to sing harmonies with her older brothers and sisters. She later joined the music industry where she recorded and toured with the band Waterdeep in 90s and early 2000s. She stepped away from touring and recording to raise her family, but continued songwriting and participating in music programs with her church. In 2019 the Christena Graves Band began, and in 2021 Christena's solo album, "Finding My Footing," marked her triumphant return to the music industry after years away. He often explores themes of resilience, spiritual and emotional growth. He strives to craft songs that resonate with sincerity and a deep sense of place and purpose. His first self-titled EP in 2009, produced by Neilson Hubbard, featured backing vocals from Garrison Starr. His last album, Take Me Home(2022) also held significant collaborations, including songs he wrote with the Grammy Award winner Thomas Whitlock as well as David George. In July of 2024, he joined Neilson Hubbard again, along with Juan Solórzano and engineer Dylan Alldredge, in their East Nashville studio to record his latest album, Who You Are, released in April of 2025. It features partner Kelly Dougherty on the track “Wrecking Bay” and Garrison Starr on “If Love Just Ain't Enough.” David said, "It includes songs written over the past 12 years that have been safety-ropes, life boats and prayers that have helped me move through faith, divorce, parenting, addiction and recovery right up to the morning of finishing and recording the title track. I didn’t want to just make a record. I wanted to make a record that would change my life because of the continued growth it would require of me and to meet people where they are at. Sharing these songs continues to be a new and humbling inspiration.” “David Luther’s very beautiful voice and honest, heartfelt lyrics combined with amazing harmonies and the stellar Nashville production work of Neilson Hubbard make this new album, Who You Are, his very best release yet.” -Mark Manning Host & Producer of Wednesday MidDay Medley on 90.1 FM KKFI - Kansas City Community Radio
