Profiles in Art: Unsettling Visions: Goya, Redon, Ensor, & Guston
When Francisco Goya produced artworks with startling imagery like that seen in “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters” (1799) or “Saturn Devouring His Son” (1820-1823), he led the way into modern sensibilities about art and the human condition that now seem prophetic. In addition to Goya, we will look at the artworks of Odilon Redon, James Ensor, and Philip Guston. All of them created distinct and original works, both sublime and absurd, that often evoke the darker tones of life in our times. Ages 18+ Registration is required.
