Drake Dantzler Faculty Recital - Vincent Project

The Vincent Project is a multigenre, multimedia recital project inspired by the letters of Vincent van Gogh to his brother, Theo. Tenor Drake Dantzler and pianist Victoria Shively pair excerpts from Van Gogh's correspondence with music drawn from art song, musical theatre, folk, and popular traditions, creating a portrait of the artist through themes of beauty, loneliness, creative obsession, failure, hope, and brotherhood. Visual imagery from Van Gogh's life and work is woven throughout the performance, inviting audiences to experience his words, paintings, and emotional world in a new way. Free and open to the public.
