
Finding Accessible Library Resources for Courses
This session introduces you to finding accessible resources through University Libraries and provides an overview of accessible digitization when necessary. You will receive hands-on practice using the scanning equipment located on the first floor of Jerome Library.
By participating in this session, you will learn how to determine if an existing digital version is available, mitigate limitations of digital copies, and learn best practices for scanning physical books and articles into high-quality digital files that include searchable text (OCR) capabilities as well as the text-to-audio (MP3) function.
This will be followed by a hands-on scanning component, during which you will practice creating accessible digital documents. You will then learn how to verify accessibility compliance and perform basic postproduction remediation to ensure that scanned materials meet accessibility standards and support equitable access for all users.
By participating in this session, you will be able to:
Apply best practices for converting physical books and articles to digital files.Verify digital accessibility compliance of a PDF. Perform basic PDF remediation functions utilizing Adobe Acrobat.Verify existing digital versions of books and articles.To register for this session, use the Fall 2026 Campus Partner Registration Form.
