The group originated in 2022 and has spent the last 3 years sharpening their edge on stages across Cleveland, Akron, and surrounding areas. During that time the band evolved as they navigated through several line up changes, gaining momentum as time went on. Hannah was the original bassist for the group, and eventually left to pursue her original project, TRUSS, which is currently doing well. Adriane took her place in July of 2024 and has been with the group since then. Hannah returned in early 2025 as the groups part time lead vocalist, allowing the group to have several different line ups. Shayla was originally a fill-in for the group’s original vocalist, Jessica Skerry Horvat, who at the time needed to take time off for medical reasons. Shayla offered a unique vocal style that appealed to the group. In addition, her guitar playing worked well with Kathys playing, and the dual guitars added another dimension to the music. Eventually Shayla took Jessica’s place permanently as the group continued their musical journey forward. The most recent change, and as unfortunate as it is, occurred in Nov of 2025 at a gig. The group’s original drummer, Kim Campbell, had an accident on stage and her leg was compromised. As it turned out she did some major damage and it appeared she would be out for an undetermined amount of time. In the interim, Medusa forged ahead with fill in drummers for the rest of the year, and eventually found Barb. Barb and Kathy have a history playing together in the 1980’s all female band SWAK, Sealed with a Kiss, aka Cleveland’s Sweethearts. They toured together throughout Ohio and the surrounding states, playing many of the larger rock clubs including the Cleveland and Akron Agora, and the Spanky’s East and West clubs. They produced a music video on Put n Bay Island during a live gig, and staged parts on the famous Perry’s Monument. The video ended up on the MTV Basement tapes. Ironically Kathy remains the only original member of Medusa, as it was her vision that yielded this all female powerhouse band.
Throughout these changes, the group’s chemistry, musicianship, and confidence strengthened. The group’s focus for the last 3 years has been to pay powerful tribute to iconic rock and roll artists while building a loyal following. What began as a passion for honoring legends has now ignited into something new. Medusa is stepping boldly into it’s own voice, writing original songs and weaving them into their live sets. Kathy and Shayla are the twin engines of Medusa’s sound. Two guitarists whose contrasting styles lock together to create something fierce and unmistakably original. Together they trade leads, layer harmonies, and push each other creatively, building songs that feel both dangerous and deliberate. They weave in texture, melody, and unexpected turns that turn their late night ideas, literally, into hard hitting, hook filled rock and roll that defines Medusa’s edgy unapologetic voice. The transition marks a turning point for the band, as they channel years of shared experience, energy, and rock solid performance into music that’s mistakenly their own.
