Carpe Librum Book Club -- The Irish Goodbye

Join the Carpe Librum Book Club in reading its November selection, The Irish Goodbye by Heather Aimee O'Neill!

It's been years since all three of the Ryan sisters—Cait, Alice, and Maggie—came back to celebrate a holiday in their childhood home on Long Island, but with their parents getting older, they all return home for a Thanksgiving gathering. Though eager to reconnect with one another, tensions are high and drama is expected to unfold throughout the holiday weekend. Each sister is carrying a big secret related to a tragic boating accident from their youth, in which a close family friend died, their parents nearly went bankrupt from legal fees, and their eldest brother ended up taking his life in the aftermath. When old tensions and new truths start coming to light, will the family find a way to band together in the spirit of the season? In the style of Mary Beth Keene and Catherine Newman, O'Neill's debut novel is beautifully written story about unresolved grief, loss, regrets, and forgiveness.
