From Drills to Duty: Stevens Point's National Guard Goes to War
Join us for a presentation ahead of Veterans Day about Stevens Point's National Guard unit in the late 1930s!
Local historian Andy Barnett will discuss a brief but important slice of the unit's history starting in 1935 through its training and deployment into service in World War II, where it would eventually spend more days in combat than any other U.S. unit. Not only does the presentation connect global events to a local impact, but it's also filled with a bunch of great pictures! A Q&A will follow the presentation.
Free, no registration required. Call the Stevens Point Branch at 715-346-1548 for more information. This program is presented courtesy of the Portage County Historical Society.
