Canasta is a card game where players form teams to score points by melding cards of the same rank, aiming to create "canastas" (melds of seven cards) and be the first to reach 5,000 points, using two decks plus jokers. Gameplay involves drawing, melding, and discarding; players can draw from the stock or the discard pile (if they can immediately use the top card in a meld) and must meet initial meld requirements before building canastas and eventually "going out" by melding or discarding their last card, scoring bonuses for melds and canastas.
