NEA Big Read - Listen & Discuss: Poetry

Listen to a selection of Edgar Allan Poe’s haunting poems, then join us for a lively discussion about Poe’s writing, themes, characters, and enduring influence. No reading ahead is required—just listen, share your thoughts, and enjoy the conversation.

A Poe Listen & Discuss gives attendees a chance to experience Poe’s work in a different way—by hearing his stories and poetry performed aloud and then sharing their reactions with others. It’s a low-pressure way to explore classic literature, discover the themes and mysteries behind Poe’s writing, and connect with other community members. Even those who haven’t read Poe before can participate and enjoy the experience.

We will be listening and discussing the poems The Bells, The City in the Sea, Annabel Lee, and Sonnet to Science.
