Grace Theisen Music: Kylee Phillips & Grace Theisen Trio (w/ Carolyn Koebel & Cori Somers)

Double album release show! -- Michigan native singer/songwriter Kylee Phillips is releasing her first full length album - “Before I Am Invisible” - an ambitious collection of sensual, articulate, and unpretentiously therapeutic pop anthems. This long-awaited, expertly percolated record couldn’t be more timely, giving voice to the memories, desires, rages, joys, and insights of a deeply grounded woman who has found the one place she won’t be talked over. Kylee’s anthemic, sonically dense songs alchemize the sincerity of a midwest heart with the prowess and unabashed indulgence usually reserved for coastal voices. Here listeners find the body-cleansing catharsis of femme-pop luminaries like Muna and Maggie Rogers, intertwined with the heartstring-pulling, hands-raised surrender of a worship conference. Every track makes equal space for the tears and the pulse-pounding we didn’t realize we needed so badly. -- Grace Theisen (Tyson) is a queer Americana artist from Kalamazoo, Michigan, who coined her genre as “Androgynous Americana” to celebrate queerness in all its forms. Blending Americana, folk, blues, pop, and rock with global influences, her sound moves fluidly across genres while exploring masculine and feminine energies. Her songwriting ranges from the vulnerability of coming out to the urgency of social justice, balanced by vibrant songs that center joy, connection, and resilience. Her songs “Behind the Rain” and “Wild Wild Woman” were featured on Spotify’s Home At Last playlist. Her “Master of Fire” video was a Toronto Women’s Film Festival finalist and screened at Hell’s Half Mile. She has performed at major Michigan festivals and performs with a band featuring Carolyn Koebel and Cori Somers. Her debut full-length album, Androgynous Americana, is set for release later in 2026. She is also 1/3 of The Rebel Eves. -- The Stray is a music and arts cafe located in Grand Rapids, MI. In addition to our craft beer, coffee and wine selection, our kitchen will be open serving our full dinner menu until 9pm! Get here early to snag your favorite seat and grab a bite to eat before the show begins. Save money by getting discounted tickets online in advance. The Stray curates a listening room style venue, where performers are front and center, not background entertainment. We frequently ask attendees to silence their phones and keep conversations low out of respect to performers and other audience members. Grace Theisen is a queer Americana artist originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. After graduating from Hope College in 2014 with a double major in Gender Studies and Psychology, Grace moved to Nashville, TN from 2015-2018 to run her nonprofit, Songs Against Slavery, full-time. Their mission was to raise awareness and fight sex trafficking in the U.S. through benefit concerts. They ended up raising over $375,000 to aid in the fight. In that time, she opened for Emmylou Harris, played the infamous Bluebird Cafe, participated in songwriter rounds at The Listening Room and opened for Matthew Perryman Jones at The Nashville City Winery. In 2019 Grace moved back to Kalamazoo to pursue music full-time. Fairly new to the Michigan Music Scene, she has created quite the buzz since moving back. Grace won Cari Cole’s Best New Artist of 2021 and was named “Artist To Watch” by Michigan’s Local Spins media outlet in January of 2022. In March, she released her 3rd EP, Dance With The Shadows. From that EP, the Down To The River Official Music Video won Best Americana Video & The Audience Choice Award at the 2022 Michigan Music Video Awards. Behind the Rain was picked up by one of Spotify's official playlists, Home At Last. This past July, She was just named by Revue as one of the “Top 10 Bands Heating Up The Summer." Her Master of Fire music video was nominated as a finalist in the Toronto Women's Film Fest, a finalist at the 2023 Michigan Music Video Awards and was just selected to be shown at the 2023 Hell's Half Mile Film & Music Festival this fall. In September 2022, Grace teamed up with world renowned percussionist Carolyn Koebel, violinist Cori Somers, guitarist Adam Main, and bassist Sarah Fuerst to bring her songs to the stage with a powerful presence. They kicked off 2023 with a splash making their debut performance at the 2023 WYCE Jammie Awards. Grace was nominated for several awards including artist of the year. This summer they played several huge Michigan venues and festivals including: Kalamazoo Pride, Frederik Meijer Gardens, Local Spins Fest, Bliss, Buttermilk Jamboree, Dunesville and Earthwork Harvest Gathering Music Festival. Her newest single and music video, Honey's Dripping, is out now on all platforms. She is also 1/3 of the girlband, The Rebel Eves. www.gracetheisen.com
