Erica Layton, the director of our Tri-Cities Historical Museum. Step back into the Roaring Twenties and discover the fascinating story of Prohibition in West Michigan! “Scandal & Shine” explores how the Temperance Movement, organized crime, bootlegging, speakeasies, and everyday citizens shaped one of the most controversial chapters in American history. Through local stories, historic photographs, and newspaper accounts from the Tri-Cities area, this presentation reveals how a national experiment played out in our own backyard—and how its legacy continues to influence us today. Perfect for history enthusiasts and anyone curious about West Michigan's colorful past.
