Staff & Faculty BUILD Class: The Pause Effect: Regulating Emotions, Reframing Conflict, and Communicating with Clarity

In fast-moving environments, our ability to pause before reacting can shape the quality of our relationships, our decisions, and our culture. This interactive BUILD session explores the behavioral science behind emotional regulation, stress responses, and communication under pressure. Participants will learn how to recognize what is happening in the body and brain during moments of tension, reframe emotional triggers with more intention, and use practical language tools to create clarity, trust, and forward momentum. Through reflection and applied exercises, faculty and staff will leave with strategies they can use immediately to navigate conflict, reduce reactivity, and show up with greater confidence, compassion, and purpose.

Facilitated by Claire Muselman, assistant professor of practice in leadership, human resources, and organizational behavior. Register for all BUILD classes HERE.
