Intricacies of Form Poetry with Iowa's Poet Laureate
Dr. Paul Brooke will teach participants about unusual forms of poetry from around the world, from Antarctica to Australia. Participants will read these poems and then try to create their own.
Dr. Paul Brooke is the Endowed Chair and a Full Professor of English at Grand View University in Des Moines. He grew up in Minden, Treynor, and Council Bluffs, Iowa, and is the author of 10 books and hundreds of poems, a professional photographer, and the new Poet Laureate of Iowa. His work combines science, photography, poetry, writing, and design. Over his career, he has traveled extensively, weaving those experiences and places into his creative work, including projects on jaguars, pumas, invasive species, and other environmental issues from across the globe.
